There are so many fun things to do with the family around the 4th of July. And of course, I’ve got the weekend filled. If your looking for something to do with the family this weekend, I’ve got you. Let’s get started with my 4th of July Family Fun rundown.
The 4th of July always makes me think of family, food and fun. It’s a great time to spend with family just hanging out and grilling. But there are also tons of activities and events to take part in outside the home. So as I often do, I’ve planned a jammed packed weekend for the family. It includes everything from the patriotic painting of shirts to doodling in red, white and blue.
4th of July Family Fun
Our weekend will begin with a bit of red, white a blue doodling on some gears. When I first came across the Go-Go Gear Art-Swirl I wasn’t quite sure if my visions of a red, white and blue 4th would come to fruition but that gear art is pretty cool. As a drawing set it’s perfect and different enough that the kids like to play with it. The kids love colors but this gives them the opportunity to play with color in a different way.
Next on our list is a stop at our local Michaels’ store to paint some shirts. I’m probably more excited about this than the kids. They love to paint but I love that someone else will be cleaning up the mess. That’s horrible huh. But I’m sure the store is much better equipped to deal with a bunch of children splattering paint (their words not mine) than my house is. Places likes Michael’s and AC Moore always have various events and classes for children during the holidays.
We will most likely keep it low key on Sunday and hang around the house and do some arts and crafts. Carrots are Orange has a bunch of great art activities. Marine, the Mom behind Carrots are Orange, has so many great 4th of July craft ideas for kids I’m not really sure which ones we will pick. Crafts are a great way to talk about the 4th of July as America’s birthday.
Monday perfect day for some outdoor fun at our local sprinkler park. I’m excited that babies get to try out their Nike Sandals in such a fun place. In Jersey the summer holidays are not typically when you’d pack up the family and “go down to the shore” (yup that’s where that T.V. show came from). But the Jersey shore has more than just beaches, there are amusement parks and water parks. But with little kids, I’m just not ready for that type of excitement.
On The 4th
On the 4th, I’m hoping to catch an early movie at the local movie theatre. The first showings around here are free for families. If you have a Bow Tie Cinema near you, you should check to see if it offers free movies for the family.
Then we’ll head back to the house and the hubby will grill. I’m hoping for some skirt steak, potatoes and a nice salad. But whatever he makes I’ll be happy with because I’m not cooking. LOL. We’ll all just hang out in the backyard and wait for the Fireworks. I love that the family can sit out in the backyard and see the Fireworks from Sunday through Tuesday because the surrounding towns plan their fireworks displays on different days. How thoughtful.
See I told you I planned a jammed pack weekend. Let me know what you’re doing this 4th.
I’ll be taking pics along the way, so make sure to follow El’s Kitchen Comforts on Instagram and Snapchat (els.kitchen). There are so many, wonderful fun things to do. So head out (or in) and have some 4th of July fun with the family.
