The warm cinnamon and sugar coated apples in this Easy Apple Crumble Recipe isn’t even the icing. It’s the crumble top that perfectly compliments those apples that puts this recipe over the top. The simplicity of this recipe make this apple crumble a keeper.
Though a tradition apple crumble would be made with delicious, tart granny smith apples this recipe is a mixer of granny smith and McIntosh apples. One of the things we love to do as a family is to go to the farm and pick apples.
Have you ever had that moment when you’re at the grocery store to just pick up a couple of items and end up with a whole cart full of stuff? Well that’s apple picking, (actually any type of picking) with this family. And by the time you realize you have way too many apples it’s too late.
But that’s one of the reason I love this recipe. It’s simple, flavorful and it utilizes whatever apples you already have in the house. If you have granny smith apples, use them but if you don’t you can still make this easy apple crumble recipe. Personally, I like the flavor you get from using lots of different apples.
Sometimes we use a combination of pink ladies and gala apples. Another time we used a combination of granny smiths apples and gala apples. Both were delicious. My suggestion is to use the apples you like. That way, you will always get a delicious apple crumble.
It’s like the best of the apple pie without having to make a crust. Traditionally, this would be served with vanilla bean ice cream but you know us, we’re rebels so we had our apple crumble with salted caramel ice cream. It was absolutely delicious.
