For some reason the Fall means donuts and cheesecakes to my family. So when pass that orange donut place all you hear from the back of the car is “donuts.” I’ve fried up donuts holes before. Talk about a dish all people from all around the world love.  But I’m not a big fan of frying. Standing over hot grease at a stove is not my idea of a good time. So these Homemade Baked Pumpkin Donut Holes has been a long time coming.

These donut holes are all my littles fault. I was telling my friend that other day, that I’m pretty sure one of my littles told me he would pee on the potty for donuts. So what the heck. If donuts can end our months long journey with potty training I am all for it.

But seriously, It’s a great time of year to play with pumpkin recipes. Whether it’s Coconut Pumpkin Curry soup or lasagna with a pumpkin sauce, why not add a delicious pumpkin donut recipe to your collection.

Not only are these Homemade Baked Pumpkin Donut Holes perfect for a Fall get together it will also be a hit at a Halloween party. If you really want to dress it up, forget the cinnamon sugar coating and frost it. Just melt down some store bought vanilla frosting and drizzle it over your donut holes. The result is a delicious, warm, sweet bit of pumpkin. Yum!!

And just in case you were wondering, my little DID NOT pee on the potty for donuts. But hey we all indulged in a great Fall treat.

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  • 4 tablespoon of butter
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoon cinnamon

Tools: 2 large bowls, whisk, donut hole baking pan, cookie scooper (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, egg, milk, unsalted butter, and vanilla until fully combined.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Spray a donut hole baking pan well with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.

Spoon batter into the mini muffin cavities about 3/4 of the way full (I used a cookie scooper).
Bake at 350 degrees for 11-13 minutes.
Remove pan from oven and let cool in the pan for 5 minutes.

Remove donut holes from pan and transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
Meanwhile, add melted butter to a small bowl. In a separate bowl, add cinnamon and sugar and mix together well.
Take each donut hole and dunk it into the melted butter, making sure it’s fully coated. Then dip it into the cinnamon and sugar mixture, making sure to coat well.
