Cauliflower rice is all the rave lately especially for those of us dipping our toe into the Keto or Paleo lifestyle. The best thing about cauliflower is that it pretty neutral so it will take on the flavor of whatever you are cooking it with.
So, think of your favorite dish. Can you add a bit of cauliflower to it? Yup, you can. There’s even cauliflower pizza these days. My point, there’s a lot of things you can do with cauliflower and it’s really healthy for you.
I’m sharing this recipe because lately, life has been so crazy. So, I decided to try several types of pre-made riced cauliflowers to save time. But in the end, I was disappointed. It can be very expensive to buy pre-made items and I’m pretty sure I disliked one so much it made me sick. Which means it was not a good use of my money. As a mom of 4, I’ve got no time for wasting money or food.
I was tempted by the idea of easy but in the end, it was so much better when I made my own Cauliflower Rice at home.
What You’ll Need
- food processor or grater
Two Ways to Make Cauliflower Rice
- Cut a head of cauliflower in half. Then use a grater with medium sized holes to grate cauliflower until it looks like rice.
- Cut a head of cauliflower into eighths and add 1/8 to 2/8 of the cauliflower to a food processor. Pulse cauliflower until it looks like rice and no large chunks remain. Remove from the food processor and add the next batch.
And the list goes on and on. Once it’s riced, it’s easy to add to most dishes. So think about adding a little to your soups and stews. Do know it will change the texture of the dish.
