Shrimp and Broccoli in Garlic Sauce

Shrimp and Broccoli in Garlic Sauce

February is a short month so it’s a great time to indulge in some delicious and quick recipes. Many of the recipes you’ll see this month will take less than 30 minutes to prepare or only require a few ingredients. When you are short on time recipes like this Shrimp and Broccoli in Garlic Sauce are super quick to make.

You can actually whip up this Shrimp and Broccoli in Garlic Sauce recipe in about 15 minutes. It has tons of flavor though it takes only a couple of minutes to make.

Actually, it might take more time for you to order and get this dish at your local Chinese food restaurant. So why not make it at home. It’s much healthier when you make it your self at home. And it’s always fun to whip out your wok.

Frozen Shrimp

Ut Oh!! Your shrimp is frozen. No problem. Yup, go ahead get that frozen bag of shrimp out of the freezer. I try to chose bags that say “IQF” (individually quick frozen). Those bags only take about 10 minutes to defrost in water.

Place a strainer or mesh sieve of shrimp in a bowl of cold water for about 10 minutes. To speed up the process I reach in to break off any ice stuck on individual pieces of shrimp (what can I say I’m impatient some times). Pull the sieve out after 10 minutes and dump the water. If there are still pieces of frozen shrimp put the sieve back in the bowl and fill it with cold water.

To make the most of your time, while you are waiting for the shrimp to defrost you can mix up the liquids and begin to cook the broccoli.

Recipe Notes:

When making this recipe, I cook it over medium-high heat. For high temperature I use spice powders. I find that using powder allows me to simplify cooking without losing flavor. If you’ve ever put slivers of hot garlic in oil you know that it burns fast when whipping up a dish like this.
