This simple Valentine’s Day Instant Pot Chocolate Cake recipe will earn you extra kisses from your loved ones.
Sometimes you just don’t have time to whip cake up from scratch. Since Valentine’s Day falls during the week that will most likely be the case. But have no fear. I’ve got a great way for you to make a sweet treat for your sweeties.
Most recipes will tell you to make the boxed cake mix according to the directions. That’s not happening here. You want you cake to be delicious and fluffy and for people to think you made it from scratch so we are going to add butter and milk instead of water and oil. Trust me you will love it. We’re going to make this box cake mix taste homemade.
If you’re feeling really happy, you can hide a surprise inside. I like to place 1 or 2 chocolate covered caramels in mine. It’s a nice surprise.
Valentine’s Day Instant Pot Chocolate Cake
Makes 8 to 10 servings
- box chocolate cake mix
- 3 -4 eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 8 chocolate covered caramels (optional)
- 8 – 10 ramekins
Tools: bowl, whisk (hand mixer), aluminum foil, 10 ramekins, pressure cooker
In a large bowl combine cake mix, eggs, milk and butter.
Mix according to box directions.
Grease the bottom of ramekins with butter.
Scoop 1/2 cup of cake mix into each ramekin.
Drop chocolate caramel in mix (if adding chocolate surprise).
Add 2 cups of water to pressure cooker.
Place trivet in pot.
Cover ramekins with foil.
Place 2 ramekins on the trivet and two ramekin on top of the other two.
Manual high pressure 24 minutes. Natural pressure release for 6 minutes.
Make it pretty and top it with some powdered sugar or whipped cream. Yum.
